Subaru often found his way to these particular cherry trees, and even more so as they'd come straight into bloom. They were only a street or two away from the shared apartment he had with Kamui... which meant any danger, he could be home in under a minute. And if he needed Kamui.. he could easily call for him

It wasn't as if he hadn't heard the footsteps, light and chimerical, as though the one who trode this ground was determined not to leave behind a mark or sound. It was almost funny, or tragic, that the boy seemed to be needing his distance from his scarily possessive protective brother at the exact time that it was the least safe to do so.

Following some age-old custom of propriety, he put out his cigarette, and smiled almost serenely. He watched how Subaru froze as it finally dawned on him that he was not alone. Seishirou wasn't sure if it was the traces of fear in the boy's lovely features, or the prospect of his company that thrilled his frozen person more.

"Most people enjoy the sakura blossoms by day, you know. Not to say that they don't have their charms at night...but the park isn't the safest place to be at such a time, Subaru-kun."

As the voice hit his ears, Subaru found the face he'd been searching for. And he'd guessed right.. now he found it, he was frozen in place where he was standing, only able to half shift his eyes to the floor.

"... it was..." he broke off. It was what? He wasn't sure. He wanted to say a 'short visit', but he really did have no idea why he'd gone in the middle of the night. And he did know places were not as safe at he'd like them to be at night.. regardless of the fact vampires preferred the night. "... no," he agreed, reluctantly, the inner part of his mind nudging him to leave already but his feet remained stiff on the ground. "... not at night."

"Curious that you're out and about then?" he said, in a tone that many had mistaken for friendly. "Despite the danger?" Time stood still a moment and his eyes fixed on the other's face a moment, feeling the perfect stillness, where the balance could tip in or out of his favor depending on the next few moments.
"Won't you sit down?"

Two different parts of his mind yelled their replies to him in his head, causing Subaru to inwardly wince. One said to walk away, one said to sit and stay... and Seishirou was talking in a friendly manner, wasn't he? He should know better, but in some messed up way way he trusted that the man was truly being friendly.

The latter won.

"... Y-" he paused. ".. yes," he eventually managed to get out, an answer to probably all three of the questions. As he said it, his feet unglued themselves from their previous position and he walked a few steps in Seishirou's direction.
