tons of people always watches NHK's annual taiga drama =) only NHK uses that term "taiga" (大河) though. But yep they are popular. The duration puts me off though that's why i don't watch them.
ohh i checked tho. like from the past 5 taiga's, atsuhime is the most popular one currently. the others had an average of around 20%? but then the current average for atsuhime is like 22~23% O__o;;
the period is okay if the story is interesting... atsuhime was boring initially, but then once she got adopted up, it got better :D
