Sad and dark and wonderful. Can't really give words at the moment. Only that as usual I loved this fic 'mems' and all I can say is more now please.
Apparently I can say more though : Loved how you showed the Masters need for the Doctor and his incomprehension about why the Doctor wouldn't want him. And that the Doctor needs him and won't admit it which is just so three (I keep thinking of when Three tells the Brig he's looking forward to seeing the Master again and the Brigs got this wonderful wtf look on his face)
Also (sorry I've rambled in this) do you mind if I friend you?
Wow. Damn it. This is brilliant. I can't say how much. I'm just going to quote the whole thing at you. These two and *this*. And perhaps more perfectly in character than I've ever seen them in writing. Delgado!Master's brand of world domination and coercion is so much creepier (and so much more *interesting*!!) than The Sound of Drums ever was because of his lack of confidence and his self-deception and his stupid, desperate love for Three - that is actually returned even though Three hates him so much for everything. *mentally flails*
“They’ll be properly cared for. I’m not a monster. Good beds and medical attention all around, since you asked.” He dropped his hand awkwardly. Cleared his throat. I mean, this. This is why I love this so much more than the straightforwardness of Ten/Simm!Master. He's being a monster, but claims he's not and believes it's true and at the same time he's quietly embarrassed/ashamed because he knows it's not. It's so schizophrenic.

I'm pretty relieved people think the characterization's working. It's a relief b/c it's a pretty weird voice/examination of his crazeh, so I was worried people were just going to be like 'wtf, why is he so soppy, I leave now in huff' before I could be like, 'no, wait, come back, he's still batshit insane, I promise! He'd just, y'know, classier about it
( ... )
Oh, wow, this is incredibly good. Absolutely brilliant characterization of the Master. And, you know, as horrible as he is here, I can't help but feel genuinely sorry for him. Because he is pathetic, and it's just sad. Truly, honestly sad.
Plus, man, what a cool idea to take the basic the-Master-conquers-Earth concept behind "Last of the Time Lords" and explore it with Delgado's Master. Because the differences and similarities between him and the Simm version are fascinating.
Oh /them./ Any characters capable of working themselves into a rape scene where you feel almost equally terrible for both people (or, I dunno, at least I did while I was writing it?) ...have issues.
Yeah, I typically think of Simm!Master and Delgado!Master as wildly different incarnations, so I think it's going to be interesting to work the scenario through him and figure out where those boundaries lie. :)
Well, I just admitted to you yesterday that I haven't seen any of this pairing in canon yet, so there's no point me raving about how wonderful the characterisation is! XD
But, even without that aspect, this is an incredible read, with such emotion and precision in the choices of phrasing. This, for instance:
The Master stood up and walked over toward the Doctor. His steps were unnaturally even. He pushed the Doctor’s empty plate under the cover, laid a hand on the bared table and drummed his fingers once, lightly.
“I don’t think I have to tell you-” he began, but cut himself off. Paused. “Well. You understand me.”
“Too sordid to say explicitly, is it?” The Doctor’s tone was flat.
“Have it your way, then.” The Master’s hand traced the line of his face. “Don’t bite.” Lingered under his chin. “Don’t resist. Explicit enough for your taste?” The tension here, the edginess, is brilliant - so brittle. I love your writing, and this is as good an introduction to Three/Master as any! Can't wait for Part 2. :D
Thanks! Their voices are kind of fun to write, (very crisp, almost period word choice that sometimes seems like they're stray Wodehouse characters, if Wodehouse had written Gayliens...) and similar but distinct from each other in this way that's hard to pin down. Anyway: I <3 them.
Thanks! It shouldn't be too terribly long a wait, I'd guess within the week.

I am now going to save it up for the weekend when I have the time to give it the appreciation and love that it (will) truly deserve/s. :)

I know your writing.
I know your dark writing.
I know your Three/Delgado!Master writing.
This couldn't be anywhere near bad even if you were actively trying to make it so. :P
But, I must admit, I couldn't quite stop myself from reading the first (non-quote) line.
And even that made me squee. :P
*bounces around happily*

Like a drug you are... :D
