OK, let me start by saying i don't claim to understand football. i always enjoyed playing in school (except my prejudiced teachers always used to sick me in goal or tell me to go and do ball exercises because i had weak legs and couldn't run as fast), and i play on a couple of old ps1 fifas (with offside rule turned off, it scuppers all my best goals!)

so is there any chance you can explain the offside rule? i know it has something to do with a defender, but beyond that my father loses me with his talk of player layouts and such. i'd like to give him a shock!

It's hard to explain. When a player attacks, at the moment the ball is passed to him, he needs to be behind the second last player of the defense. In the video, all three players that received the ball were in front of the offside line at each moment the ball is passed to them.
