I'm not sure how much you want to spend, but I've had the XV6700 for a year and a half. I have carried it in a custom-fit aircraft aluminum case, and it has taken a lot of abuse successfully. I just replaced it, free under the extended warranty, because the USB connector on it broke with wear and tear.

Can it take abuse from a barn manager? I'm really hard on phones. My friend has that, though she's not rough on phones like I am, so she wasn't able to give me any real input.

I've heard good things about that. Wayne has a similar one, he said he threw it across the room, it broke a picture frame and still works. And I do work in a barn, so there's plenty of throwing things. Mainly tourists.
