See, the problem is that a vast majority of men would find that kind of a conversation starter to be complimentary and positive, so there's always going to be a few that don't realize that women, being basically different than men in the way our minds work, generally dislike blatant come ons within the first 30 seconds of conversation starters.
For what it's worth, I don't think you look particularly like the porn star in question except in a few features. It's like the people who used to tell me that I looked like Gwen Stefani when my hair was blonde and I had it up in little knots. Totally superficial resemblance. And kind of outrageously obvious ass-kissing. If you're trying to get into someone's pants by telling them they look like a famous person there are three qualifiers: they must actually resemble said celebrity, the celebrity must be attractive, and the celebrity must NOT be a porn star or other known-only-for-sex type of famous. (Paris Hilton, Monica Lewinsky, etc)
Thank you. My bosses are harassing me and telling me I do resemble her...mostly when I smile I think. Gwen Stefani? Really? I never would think that at all. I've always thought you remind me a bit of Sarah Jessica Parker, only with way more fun hair.

I think most people get caught up in superficial details. I know that the Gwen Stefani thing was entirely because of the way I was wearing my hair and the fact that when I have platinum blonde hair, I have to wear dramatic makeup or the hair washes me out. So I was wearing red lipstick, black eye liner and lashes every day. When I wore my hair up, they said Gwen Stefani. If I left it down and curled it, they said Marilyn Monroe. All about the hair.
I've never had anyone compare me to SJP before, except maybe Greg, who says a lot of actresses remind him of me. But thank you. I think she ought to have pink hair, but the whole Sex And The City thing sort of required a less weird look.
I suppose I could see how you could be Gwen Stefani-esque...with the knotted hair and dramatic makeup.
Nobody's ever said that? I dunno, maybe it's because I'd just watched seasons 1-5 of Sex and the City when I moved back to MD and met you, but that was one of the first things I thought of when I saw you. I dunno. I totally think she could rock out the pink hair as well. I'm so jealous that you can have that. I miss mine so very much, but don't have enough dedication to wear a wig every day to work. I think the wig would be all screwed up by the end of the first week.
