Tucker, Get Off It

Look, Tucker, people have been seeing strange lights in the sky for thousands of years. Some of which are explainable, and some not. Remember, planet Earth has been here for 4.7 billion years. The human existence has been a minuscule fraction of that time, and our technological civilization a minuscule fraction of that fraction. The chances that there is another planet anywhere close to the solar system that is inhabited by a civilization that has solved the problem of interstellar travel, that knows about our existence, and is dropping by just to fuck with some ICBM's is virtually nil. There is a reason why Project SETI has proved to be a "failure". The surface area of the biggest radio telescope we have is one square kilometer.

"Surface Area: Land area, about 148,300,000 sq km, or about 30% of total surface area; water area, about 361,800,000 sq km, or about 70% of total surface area."

Add 'em up and the result is: 510100000 Km2. The largest radio telescope is 196.04E-9% of the total surface area. Furthermore, planet Earth is sweeping that telescope across the sky by its rotation, its orbit around the Sun, and the Sun's orbit about the center of mass of the Milky Way. Then consider the size of the entire solar system and we're talking about a spec on a spec on a spec. From another planet, there is no way the antennae would remain aligned long enough to receive any signal. And that's exactly what SETI has found: likely intelligent signals, but they never last long enough to tell one way or another. So how is anyone out there going to know we're here?

As for the vid, tale a look at 2:26. That's clearly an airplane. You can see the nav lights. Little Green Men equip their spacecraft with nav lights? Really, Tucker?

I reiterate: if these things prove to be extraterrestrial craft capable of interstellar travel, then our only alternative is to hope they are friendly. If they're not, kiss your ass goodbye because there isn't THING ONE we can do about it.
