I've got no dog in this fight per se, but just went through a few weeks of hunting a house to rent, and also thinking about buying sort of middle term.

And now decided to rent in Knocknacarra. Really like the area.

We were looking around Heuston Station and Rialto, we're hoping to get something city centerish cause that's where we work.

Wish I could move to Galway but life is conspiring against me at the moment.

One of my friends has just bought a house and I saw what she went through .. and some of the houses that she viewed. So I can imagine what your experience was like.
