Shudder.

A car and motorbike just had an accident outside the library, thankfully no-one was seriously hurt.

But the motorbike rider had no jacket on, what was he thinking? That way lies leaving your skin on the road. He skidded a good 20 meters on the road!

work, accident

I had a moped when I was a teenager - and I caught the front wheel in the tram lines going over the docks. It was evening and in the summer - and I was wearing shorts... and my Mum's old Barbour jacket from when she'd ride pillion on my Dad's Norton Dominator! I was really glad of that jacket because, as you've noticed, an unseated rider goes quite a distance!

I did about 20 yards on my back - and when I finaly got the engine started and managed to get home, I found that I only had a few very faint scratches on the jacket. And that was from sliding on my back on cobblestones and gravel! After that, I wore full biking gear every time I went out on it!

Moral is... 'Dress correctly and don't go to hospital!'

I have no idea how this guy avoided going to hospital, he'll probably keel over later!

Grutok used to have a bike, a decent bike, and I was a regular pillion passenger, but he would have a fit if I came out to go on the back of it with anything less than boots or heavy shoes, trousers and heavy duty jacket (lid was absolutely obligatory). He'd seen what happened to people who ignored basic precautions!
