it's very encouraging that so much of the intent in the piece came through to you as a reader (and i certainly hope it repays another reading if you decide so to do) -

this was done quite some time ago now and writing it was very tricky, i always relish the challenge of trying to go the distance with characters as unlike me as possible but in this case i think i went to far; the main character is negative towards so many things that i love e.g. working in libraries, smoking cigarettes, having an interest in psychology etc etc. that i'm tempted in retrospect to think i was in a bad mood with myself!

In any case, I lost my sense of the piece, still can't tell if it's actually any good because i had the unsettling feeling that i was walking through someone else's dream or something and had to run away from it.
