Blaise in Space! fanfic100 prompt 15 (Blue)

Dec 31, 2006 22:52

Squeaking one in before the end of the year. I had a notion of doing a holiday edition of Blaise in Space, but it just didn't happen. But this did.

Clocking in at 899 words. Whoa. That means behind a cut.

Special thanks to karitawyr who had some very helpful advice and who also flogged me into finishing this before midnight.

It's always had a beginning! This is just more detail. And it's necessary as a prologue to a bit I have planned. :)

And here's a question. Where is your icon from? Can you point me to a non-cropped version? Please?

It's from a scanlated manga, but it'd take me awhile to figure out which one *^_^* I'll see if I can remember, though. ♥

I'm asking because of the pic I see in my head when I see that icon. Now, maybe that's what it is... but it looks like someone making a heart in front of their crotch.

These make so much more sense now I know who everyone is. *g*

It's one reason I was so glad to see you'd started watching!

I'm thinking the next one is going to be either something with Ford, or something with Rodney, episode-based for Echoes.

And you're writing!!! Almost 900 words! Woohoo!

Thank you, my dear!

Nine hundred words... in about three hours. Some kind of record for me.

I'm trying not to let other peoples' word counts get to me. I'm just not prolific. I have to fight for every word. :(

*hugs*

Ooooh, nice one. As was said earlier, the detail in this is excellent. :D

Will Blaise be walking in on Daniel and Jack canoodling? ;)

Yay, 900 words!!!! :D:D:D:D:D

Thank you, sweets!

Blaise will not be walking in on Daniel and Jack; he's got to get to the gateroom and on his way to Atlantis.

But there is another encounter with Daniel planned. ;)

And nope, no walking in on Jack and Daniel later... because so far, Jack and Daniel haven't both been on Atlantis at the same time.

And no, not back at the SGC either, because the only time Blaise has been home was when *everyone* went home, and he didn't hang around. He went home. Still haven't figured out what happens at that time. But he does go back to Atlantis when the rest of the expedition does.

:)

Wow. ramble!

I love outsider perspectives on the SGC and the SG-1 characters, and this one's extra fun because it's not just a crossover but a crossover with a magical/supernatural 'verse, which gives it that additional level of pleasant dissonance. So I really like the detailed treatment of Blaise's experience of coming to the SGC for the first time. It's been a looooong time since I read the first HP book, but in my head this plays nicely off my experience of coming to Hogwart's for the first time. My favorite bits are his thoughts about how the route through the corridors might be complicated but at least the corridors will stay put (heh!), and his observations about the locker room. I also really like seeing nothing in the General's expression, and something resembling sympathy in Daniel's, because I can imagine what's going on behind those faces. *g* I also enjoyed the feeling of being the new person coming to the SGC -- getting a vicarious experience of that through the point-of-view character ( ... )
