Okay, I am a Californian. I will always be a Californian no matter where I am, but I live in SW Portland and I work in Beaverton and all I gotta say is… Rob, WTF? Ha and some hee!
I thought he was a little too "aw shucks" and Duncan lite, but he is inoffensive if they keep him as just a foil for Wallace - because I loved them together.
Parker is not really thrilling me, but I see where she and Mac could do well together.
The whole Keith subplot is annoying me as is Veronica a little. But I thought the episode was a solid B. But yes, we are a long way from the brilliance of S1.
One thing - where the fuck is Weevil?

But it really was just so ludicrous. A friend at work who watches also, came in the next day and the first thing we did was fume about how stupid that was because NO ONE from Beaverton would be that innocent and gullible unless they were just naturally a few bricks short of a load. There basically is no appreciable difference between the Greater Portland area (of which Beaverton is apart) and the Great San Diego area (of which "Neptune" is apart) so the only reason they used that particular city name was to get their 'beaver' jokes in. And that's just lazy.
But yes, I didn't mind Piz - the character - at all if he had acted like that and been from… Podunk, Idaho or something. But I totally have to hate him now just because they messed up the characterization of the city of Beaverton so badly. It was just really irritating and event though they are so obviously struggling, I still expect better of them ( ... )

Things did not get better for me in the 2nd episode because I hated the prisoner plot line and thought that the actress playing Parker's mom just about ruined all those scenes for me.
Oh well, at least Studio 60 is still on...for now.
