Have you seen the couch-to-5k program around? I am too fat and lazy for running, but I've seen people on my flist have some success with it!

It's good to hear that volunteers are appreciated! I'm not sure what scientific volunteering opportunities we have around here, but it definitely sounds worthwhile. It seems to be the only way to get experience around here, at any rate.
And so far, the only weight loss program I can think of that doesn't require me to give up computer time and helps me not to spend money is to just not eat at all. That doesn't work so well for me; I tend to get all murderous when I deny myself food. :)
