wow - i knew that comment *might* generate some hostility, thats why i inserted a diplomatic summary, must have been overlooked. usually folks don't pay that much attention to my journal.
there are numerous problems within our system of government to be sure. but there is something about her presence that, from the beginning, has been insincere and self-serving in my opinion. i'm not impressed with her service record and i feel she is on a mission that is not to the benefit of the American people. if i hear "there's a new congress in town" one more time.....
What exactly do you find hostile about my question (which, by the way, you haven't answered)? It seems to me "Pelosi is an idiot" and "a frustrated ex-deb" betray a lot more hostility than a simple question.
Returning on Wednesday, the lawmakers said they made clear to Assad that they support Bush and were not representing the administration. But they said they felt it was important to keep open lines of communication.
"This is an area where we would disagree with the administration," Aderholt said. "None of us in the Congress work for the president. We have to cast our own votes and ultimately answer to our own constituents. ... I think there's room that we can try to work with them as long as they know where we draw the line."
A White House spokesman, Alex Conant, said the administration tries to deter lawmakers from both parties from engaging Assad.
"We discourage all visits to Syria because it's a state sponsor of terror," he said. "A lot of officials have gone, and it hasn't changed the Syrians' behavior."
Nobody (reps or dems) should have left Washington until the Troops were properly funded.
The dems are playing with fire, though, if they keep playing "spank the President" the Americans (who are still very conservative) will wack them back out of office and the talking heads will spend the next two years going, "Huh?"
The majority of our elected officials are an embarassment. I am mostly satisfied with OUR elected peoples (Cheyenne could use a good and proper dusting, however. What is up with our Leg/Sen anyway???) here at home, but the rest??? Ugh.
But, I have to agree with you on Pelosi. She needs knocked down a peg or so.
been writing in this thing for years...never have instigated such, um, dialogue.
it's my journal, with my own thoughts. i don't expect to defend anything i write here. nor do i expend anyone else to defend their writings. if i don't like it, i leave.
