You don't have to reject the "real world" to get at the "secret" one. Both are always there. People forget they control the choices they make every second of every day.
It is that feeling of loss-of-choice, of constriction, of obligation, that makes the "real world" feel lifeless. And that feeling is an illusion, usually self imposed.
The "secret" world is cool, and energizing, and should be visited (more or less often, depending on need). But the "real world" is the one where we make families, and communities, and businesses. Where we build things more lasting than legends.
I'm pretty passionate about living in the "real world", and defend it pretty strongly. But this is debate - not personal, I know other people see the world differently than I do.
*smiles* Thank you for writing this. The second full paragraph ("You can taste it...") inspired me to go for a very nice walk in the moonlight, and see a sight I'd been wanting to see again, a little sign someone put up nearby that says "I love you very much" :)
