I realised something yesterday, and it shook me. Something that just doesn't make any sense to me, but the evidence for it can't be ignored.

I am popular.

It feels weird to even say that. But it seems to be true. I'm a part of an awful lot of groups and communities - at work and at play, online and in real life, and almost invariably now I ( Read more... )

Once you get past age 20-something, people start caring a whole lot less about what everybody *else* thinks about someone being popular, and instead starts going for what makes *them* happy. And you make a lot of people happy. So natch.
