I just realized why today is suddenly being called "Patriot Day". Oh FUCK that. I demand that if today be called Patriot Day then we set aside one day to commemorate every thousand Iraqi civilian deaths as well or we commemorate no day at all.

I think it's perverse that 9/11 still gets this many media attention because of 3000 dead people.
After 9/11, so many disasters with +10.000, +100.000 ,... deads happened and nobody thinks of that either anymore.
Really, in the grand sheme of all that happened the past 8 years, 3000 deads are peanuts and America should be ashamed to be using that minor drama year after year.

Even if my mum had been in that building I would not feel right about flaunting our wound to this extent while not only ignoring places that suffer terrorism daily but inflicting such suffering to a greater degree than it was received.
