Author's note: So basically this is the draft versions of Parts IX and X, combined; I decided in the "final" version to put them together in a single chapter, as I think it flows better that way.  Otherwise, I haven't made any significant changes - a couple of minor alterations to the wording, nothing that would jump out at you if you read the ( Read more... )

Good -- and the Yoda-Obi-Wan dialogue shows their relationship pretty well --- as they are, on some level, friends and only when Yoda orders Obi-Wan in ROTS to defeat Anakin does Obi-Wan, to my mind, lose that friendship and become a Jedi Soldier.

Thanks for commenting. I'm glad you feel the dialogue worked - and that's an interesting take on the Obi-Wan/Yoda relationship, I'm glad you shared. I hadn't thought of them dealing with a sharp break like that, but it does make a certain kind of sense in light of their other interactions within the canon. Do you see their final scene in ROTS as something of a reconciliation, then?

As the three sit around the table deciding the fate of the babies, the two of them seemed 'together', as equals, essentially 'two Jedi in the room with Bail as an outsider' (I never did /get/ the 'Your Graces' thing). Then Yoda springs his Qui-Gon revelation and all bets are off; Obi-Wan lights up *=* (satisfying everyone on the m-a mailing list, let me tell anyone who'll listen) and their relationship/friendship/camaraderie changes, with Yoda becoming a student again, sort of a fellow student with Obi-Wan to the dominance of Qui-Gon's defeat of death. So that's the way I see their 'arc.'
