Author's note: Er. I'm not sure how this happened. I think I sat down with the idea of writing something about Ferus, and ended up thinking about Ryn, which somehow led to writing about Vader instead. I blame

It's a believable plotline, not OOC for Vader to be like this because you have long developed Ryn into the unique position where she can still access Anakin in the Vader persona.
I really liked it when she hugged him and said she missed him!

Thanks for that - I actually feel better about it on a rereading than I did when I first posted, but I still think it seems … I don't know, a little strange. But as plot bunnies go, I've had worse ones. Usually those end in threesomes.
She totally did hug him … she's very consistent that way, and never quite grasps that she's supposed to stop loving him now.

Otherwise, okay. My kid's disability is starting to come in, and there's a lot less stress now. Thanks for asking!
You're welcome!
No, it totally works because you've put a lot of work into Ryn and Anakin, so it seems natural, if it is an unusual scenario. Vader doesn't come off as "woobie," just the internal conflict that plays within him, and how Ryn is maneuvered into a positon where she can't foment rebellion: kudos! And yes, Ryn is being Ryn here, bittersweet. We know she shouldn't be loving him anymore, but it is touching that she does. I usually find such scenes awkward and OOC, but I enjoyed this one! Your work is paying off!

I'm glad you think it works. I don't particularly like "cuddly" Vader fics, so I didn't really want him to come off too soft here, if you know what I mean. And yet this is still pretty clearly Shadows of the Empire Vader, not so much the Vader from some other EU sources. I tend to veer toward the "he's-trying-not-to-think-too-hard" school of thought.
