Author's note:
darth_eldritch suggested a conversation between Vader and Ryn about Obi-Wan. This is it ... sort of. I hope you like it! :)

Oh, that's Palpatine and Vader all right! How Palpatine loves inflicting pain on Vader, it's kind of a tortured foreplay in a way.
concupiscent this reminds me of how sexual Palpatine sounded when trying to seduce Luke to the dark side. Oh, yes, I am sure that Palpatine feels a degree of frustration in that Vader was wounded and had to be sealed in that suit.
Justice matters to Vader but not, apparently, to his master. excellent observation.
And how Palpatine loves watching spats between his underlings. Yes.
Hmm, Ryn really does provoke emotion in Vader, no matter how much his suit and vocabulator cover that up. And it's fitting, how she jibes about redemption and how it affects him
Very very good! I love it!
And I love that evening gown, that with Vader in the manip. Pretties!

Let's not forget Vader's own knighting scene, that was disturbing on so many levels ...
Palpatine glories in manipulation, sometimes for no other purpose than just because he can ...
I don't think he can not feel something for her, after all they've been through together. It does not follow that all those feelings will be pleasant.
how she jibes about redemption
I don't know if I would have called it a jibe. I tend to think of Ryn as too straightforward to do much jibing; that's more Palpatine's style. But certainly it does affect Lord Vader.
I'm glad you liked it! :)

Palpatine was about orgasmic in that Vader knighting scene, yeah....
No matter how much Vader tells himself he is distanced from others because of that armor, he still feels very deeply.
Jabbing? Short pointed remarks. Maybe jibe was the wrong word. Remarks that Ryn would make.
Oh, I love it! :)

Yeah ... there were some otherwise than chaste vibes going on there. Sithly delectation at its best (and worst).
he still feels very deeply
I think that's key to the character; but the way I read it, the Dark Side actually shields him against the pain somewhat, like a drug. That's one of the many reasons (in my interpretation, at least) why he shies away from the Light.
Oh, gotcha.
Yay, a win all around! :)

All right, that isn’t actually new. She wants to slap him most of the time.
I found just this line hilarious. It reaches back to the essential Palpatine of Return of the Jedi, daring the protagonist to strike him with that delighted smile on his face.
No, it’s more the pure sadistic glee he takes in his apprentice’s pain. Nothing makes Sidious quite as happy as Vader’s misery.
Interesting. This tells us far more about Ryn than it does about Palpatine. She's very biased, understandably so, but I don't think it's Vader's misery so much as the act of toying with that misery. But that's what he's doing here, so I'm probably just being picky.

Oh, yeah. That's Palpatine, all right. And it's also Ryn: a little violent in love. She'd take on the galaxy for Anakin; every now and then, she kind of does.

I have to say, I don't think you can really separate the two. I mean, he enjoys Vader's pain, and he enjoys manipulating him, and if he can get a two-fer then it makes his day. In this case it's really a three-fer, because he also gets to torment Ryn. And Palpatine never turns down a windfall like that.
concupiscent
Yeah, I don't have anything to say about that except that Ryn in the FFV has very strong feelings about Palpatine's relationship with Anakin that go back a loooong way, and she doesn't feel better about them now (for obvious reasons).
You don't care about justice either, do ( ... )

I do agree with this up to a point. I guess the reason I'm a little bit wary of it is because a lot of fanfiction authors make the Palpatine/Vader dynamic solely about psychological torture. It's there, of course, but not all the time - it wouldn't be sustainable. Sorry, I'm whining at you for other authors' faults!
I don't know that I would say she doesn't care about justice. It's just that she cares about Anakin more.
For practical purposes, that's enough to warrant taunting. Has that been used against her yet? ;)
Of course, it was also a war, and there were no Jedi non-combatants. Though that doesn't necessarily exculpate any of the participants, as international courts decided at Nuremberg: "just following orders" is insufficient.I wouldn't blame any number of Jedi for what happened, but Obi-Wan was on the Council and fully participated.
