head!canon

Hey folks -

Lately, I've gotten interested in SW head!canon. This may or may not be related to the AWESOMENESS of those head!canon memes that circulated over the summer. I blame my tendency to confuse my Academic Life with my Interwebz Life, neither or both of which might be my Real Life (it's yet to be determined whether I even have one of ( Read more... )

Um ... yes? Hehe. Actually, your corpus is particularly interesting because you have so many different sets of fics that are divergent from each other, to say nothing of the Lucas canon. I'm never quite sure which ones are head!canon to you (except the ones that are specifically labeled), or how they all fit together (or not) in your head. There is a network of meaning there, of which I only catch glimpses.

OMG squee!!! You have no idea how excited I am about all of this.

Something more like a coherent response later, but in the meantime this:

"There's more, but I could probably write a novel with this stuff."

... and so clearly should. XD

citizenjess and I have a very fun head!canon. winduwatchers is kind of the culmination of the head!canon we've developed (uh, if you read it, skip to 11/07 entries because that's when the actual characterization starts). Hasn't been updated in a while, but it kind of is the basis of how I view the characters.

For more individual stuff, I think Anakin didn't know how to read or speak Basic fluently when he came to the Temple. Someone wrote a fic that involved Anakin thinking in Huttese but not wanting to - that really resonated.

Most of my fics are based on either winduwatchers head!canon or the darker head!canon that I have myself that says Anakin is just this side of losing it, and when Ahsoka dies/leaves/gets reassigned/whatever happens to her, he does. He gets paranoid and more reckless to the point of being practically suicidal, hence Obi-Wan being more involved in their joint missions and his general distrust of pretty much everyone - as well as their distrust of him. My head!canon has it that he does something pretty awful after Ahsoka that causes the rest ( ... )

Hey, thanks for the suggestions!

Haha, I especially love your last addendum, that Anakin likes to hoard things ...

Well, until I started hanging out on LJ again I never thought about a SW headcanon (which is weird, because I have a VAST headcanon for Star of the Guardians. (Actually, before the prequels, SOTG kindof was my SW headcanon for the prequel-era.)

But since then, thanks to some conversations with irnan, I've developed quite a bit of headcanon about the Naberrie family and their interactions with the Skywalkers during and after the OT. There's both a canon-compliant and an AU (or at least ignores-the-EU) version. But my writer's block has thwarted any attempts to write it in fic form. Short version and key is that Ryoo knew about her aunt's marriage and adored Anakin. Then she grew up and wanted to join the Rebels. She harassed Bail Organa into helping her fake her death (so as not to prejudice Pooja's chances in politics), studied medicine on Alderaan, and then joined the Alliance as a field medic. She got to know Luke on Hoth, and whether or not she tells him they're cousins or not depends on the version. Also whether or not she survives ( ... )

Hi, I wandered over from jedi_news. =]

As for head!canon? Well, hm. I haven't really given much thought to it, but my older sister and I believe that Cad Bane started out as a bored, rich youth -with sociopath tendencies- who really went down the wrong side of the tracks. And also has a fetish for electrical torture due to something unspeakable in said youth.

Hi there!

Wow, that's a really innovative interpretation of Cad Bane. I can totally see your point about electrical torture, though.

Thanks for sharing!

Hehe, thanks. My sister and I thought that would be a nice twist in his origin, since both of us really hope they don't pull a tragic romance angle.

Not that there's anything wrong with that concept in general, I just don't see it working for Bane (with what we've seen of him, anyways).

And thanks for putting the topic out there too! =]
