Watching stuff....

I haven't been talking much about what I've been watching, mainly because my mind's been on an assortment of other things, but suffice it to say that I've been watching the usual too much of everything and sometimes not quite enough of specific things. I have at least two good rants about Heroes looking for an outlet, and I might have one about ( Read more... )

I too adore Pushing Daisies. It's the show I will mourn most when it goes into strike hiatus.

Really. This week's episode with the fun in the fireworks warehouse was just sooo overdone.

I guess Mac would be Batman....

while i enjoyed :bsg: razor, i didn't find it as compeling as i had hoped. it filled in some gaps, but didn't we already get most of those pretty much filled in during seasons 3? i care about as much for learning more about kain now as i did before. she's not a very good character, in my opinion. she comes across as patton on crack. absolutely no redeaming qualities whatsoever. michelle forbes does an admiral job in the role (hah! admiral...get it...::coughcough::...moving on).

maybe if they had put it closer to one of the seasons like they planned i might have a bit more enthusiasm for it. i feel like it was a bone tossed at the fans to keep them from dropping off like flies during the massive haitus.

i started watching tinman. only caught the first hour. i've got the entire thing on dvr so it'll get watched this week. i usually like zooey deschanel so i'm hopeful.

I was completely unhappy with tin man. The "outer zone??" That was just dumb. It was like a bunch of people sat around and thought up the worst ideas they could come up with, put them in a hat and pulled them out at random. Why does modernization always have to include ruining the original concept.
I almost like BSG razor. Almost.. If they are going to make people wait until next year for the final season. At least spend a larger amount on the CGI budget. The action scenes could have been a lot more detailed then they were. Something else that is killing me is these emaciated original cylons. The original series cylons were a lot more intimidating. You are more informed on the inner workings of hollywood so maybe you can tell me how the golden compass is anti catholic? The only thing i got from that movie was sleepy and a bad movie headache.

The religious right's hysterical reaction to The Golden Compass came in part from the books, and in part from the author himself being an aetheist and rather vocal about his distaste for religious institutions, many of which he thinks are corrupt.

What made the religious yappers look idiotic was 1) the first book of the trilogy is the least focused on that aspect and 2) the very aspects they were foaming up about were tossed by the filmmakers pretty much at the start, and with Pullman's knowledge.

Doesn't much matter, really, as the film is apparently not the ornate fantasy object that people really want to go and see, and its lackluster performance at the box office most likely means we'll never see adaptations of the rest of the trilogy.
