I also took back my original surname when I divorced, though mainly because I didn't want to be chased for my ex's debts.

Wouldn't have occurred to me to think of Dierdre as in any way an unusual name.

Maybe it's geographical, you meet quite a few Deirdre's in their thirties or forties but not many younger ones. Plus over here Deirdre Barlow is the name of a character in one of the top 2 soap operas
