Bummer that you've had some major suckishness happening, especially in regards to insurance and all things money. :( I hope it turns out for the better for you and your brother. Soon.

Re: the kitties. Once you are able to get ahold of them what about taking them (1) to the shelter to be adopted or (2) to the shelter to be fixed and put back into the neighborhood?

Yeah, a shelter is likely. I'd rather find someone that wanted them, though.
