So, I recently started a Pandora station at work. I "seeded" it with Bonnie Dobson, and Pandora kept playing the same 10 songs. That got boring, so I added a couple more female singers. Some good songs played, and I liked a couple songs by groups with male singers. Beetles. Simon & Garfunkle. Stuff like that

I recently listened to a course about the daily life of everyday humans from prehistory through the Renaissance. What you find with Pandora is the basic reality of female artists since...FOREVER. Women weren't even allowed to "do art" even privately. What was done was often destroyed, rarely saved in any way. Finding examples of music, sculpture, writing, etc done by women before the end of the Renaissance is possible, but I can confidently state that the average person would have a hard time naming ten famous female artists for every thirty male artists named. Even today, though the margin narrows, it's still kinda gaping.

I can add another data point to your casual study. It took me almost a week to get a channel that would only play female singers on Pandora.

The flavor was rich, I can see why it might make a person think of goat cheese.
