Writing Project

Jun 07, 2007 16:17

I'm soliciting opinions for a little writing project I'm working on in my spare time.

What are your pet peeves when dining out? Please complain loudly and prolifically, about any part of your experience. :)

My dad gets uber pissy if the server tries to clear his plate before he is finished eating.
He's a slow eater, so other people are long done before he is.

I don't like it when I feel like the server is trying to get me out the door as quickly as possible.

And I like extra napkins before I need them. And a clean table.

An attentive server ought to pick up on these things?

And I like extra napkins before I need them.

It's really hard to call this one as a server. "Here, have some napkins! You look like you're gonna make a mess."

I mean, if you're serving wings or something, I could maybe understand.

I always make a mess.
I usually have food in my hair-
That should be a clue to the server.

I don't even order wings or ribs in public.

- waitresses who expect tips

- tables without old coffee stains on them

- loud blaring tvs with cnn on, or muted tvs with a spam of late captions of fox news

- having to get up to use the bathroom

- gravity that propels my silverware towards the floor and then magically reappears as a cleaner version of itself on my table

- 79 year old women who cough over my food and has outsurvived atleast 3 husbands and for some reason they have really nice looking hair even though it should be as white as their tan lines

- cooks who cant cook but call themselves chefs

Families with screaming children who won't take them outside. I hate that. It's probably my only real pet peeve.

I guess my other stuff is just stuff that shouldn't happen - Really slow service. Cold food. Mixed up orders. Rude waiters (who throw stuff at me ZOMG DIE ASSHOLE).

He was hitting on my then-boyfriend. The then-boyfriend was laughing his ass off about me being fucking physically assaulted.

... Asshole.

Waiters who hypermanage (come over every 5 minutes and ask if everything's okay.) I hate, hate, hate that. It's like, go away, I'm obviously trying to have a conversation with the person I came here with.

Waitresses / Waiters who flirt with my boyfriend.

Waiters who try to flirt with ME.

Waiters who bring the check before I'm done eating.

Waiters who fuck up my order and put things on them I specifically don't want because I'm allergic to them. (Onions, milk, pineapple.)

People who won't take their screaming / disobedient children outside, people who discipline their children in a resteraunt.

People who talk on their cell phone in resteraunts.

Homeless people in waffle house.

Obnoxious tourists.

People who loudly complain about very nice establishments / are bitches about their orders being wrong / being loud.

People who don't tip. That's just rude.

People who put their tips at the bottom of their drinks.

I don't like going out to eat. :\
