Deirdre was still quite uncertain about this whole affair. Just why were they sneaking about after curfew, anyway? She gave a small sigh and shook her head, giving up on trying to understand. Gryffindors (and Sean) were a little beyond her comprehension at times, but at least Ami and Jacob were coming along, too. Surely they'd bring some sanity to this whole insane 'adventure'? She hoped so, anyway ( ... )

"No," Sean whispered, steadying Deirdre with his hands on her shoulders. "I'm better looking than him." He grinned cheekily, but of course this could not be seen, so what ensued was an awkward silence where Sean grinned at nothing in the dark.

"Been waiting for you lot to get outta class already," he went on, finally letting go of Deirdre and sending her on her merry way. Well, perhaps it was too dark for her to have a path of "merry way", but he let go anyway. He stayed still as well; after all, if Vaughan was going to be walking off and making himself familiar with benches, Sean was going to stay put for the time being.

"At any rate, I think the coast is clear," he whispered loudly. In a stage whisper, if you will.

Ami was right behind Sean, when they slipped into the Great Hall, waiting for Vaughan's signal. It seemed like a lot of work just to investigate the Great Hall, and she didn't think anyone would wake up if they lit up the room, but she wasn't about to be a spoil sport. Everyone seemed to try to take their "mission" seriously, and it was fun.

She heard Sean whisper to Deirdre and when he said the coast was clear, she tiptoed to whisper back. "Do you think we should light our wands now?" Or you know, hold hands and form a huge long chain of seventh year students? Since obviously, Vaughan had gone missing in the dark.

vaughan grinned at the sound of Deirdre's voice. "Here," he called, and waited to see if she would be able to track him by sound alone. This was all very silly, wasn't it? He couldn't wait to remember it forever. He was distracted, however, by Deirdre apparently crashing into something, and he jumped to his feet and made to lunge in her direction and protect from whatever she HAD crashed into, when Sean spoke.

He froze, adrenaline and relief simultaneously flooding through his system. "Hey," he said indignantly, though it perhaps could have been interpreted as HURT, "that's a new low for me, mate. I've now had my looks insulted when no one was even LOOKING. And me at my best at night. Suppose it's really, truly hopeless, then." He'd been doing his best to edge very slowly toward the voices, going nearer while avoiding a collision.

"Hullo, Ami, yes, that's a brilliant idea. Lumos!" vaughan cried, somewhat dramatically, and he waggled his eyebrows at his friends. "Kinda spooky, eh?"
