Orlando's Party

ooc: Remember you can always make separate posts for mingling before Will and Orlando show up :-D)

Finding the perfect location for Orlando's party had been easy once Michael's contact had gotten in touch with Will. She'd been able to get them booked into a club that offered a lot of space but maximum privacy for the guests. While membership was usually required for entrance, a few strings had been pulled for the occasion to allow Will and Orlando's friends inside at the appointed time. Club Corsicana was located on W. 52nd street, and had been voted one of the best private clubs in Manhattan. A restaurant on the first floor was open to the public, but once guests arrived and spoke to the maitre d', they were escorted by security up a flight of stairs to the party. Just to be safe, Will had hired extra security to make sure no one tried to sneak upstairs uninvited.

Once the guests reached the second floor, they were greeted by servers dressed as footmen holding trays filled with glasses of champagne, and led through a set of double doors to the main room of the club. If gifts were brought, they were taken from the guests at that point and placed on a table covered with a gold-embroidered tulle lace tablecloth. Inside, the room had been decorated in gold, white and silver. A theater backdrop of a fairy tale castle was set against the back wall, the colors muted to blend in with the softly lit atmosphere of the room. Small trees covered in white lights lined the walls and stopped on either side of the painted path to the castle. A photographer had been hired to take candid shots of the party, but he would also take posed pictures at the guests' request. Long lace-covered tables had been placed in front of the trees on either side of the room, and were covered with silver platters that held a vast array of hot and cold food for the guests. Will had opted not to have a sit down dinner, sure that Orlando would prefer the more casual yet elegant ambience, but he had insisted that there be a variety of food and drink so that everyone would be guaranteed something they'd like. One of the tables on the right side of the room held the birthday cake, a large three-tiered square chocolate layer cake covered in ivory fondant and decorated with yellow and ivory flowers and accents. At the top of the cake was a 30 made of white and milk chocolate. There was a smaller sheet cake next to it that was decorated in a similar fashion, and had "Happy Birthday Orlando" written on it. The baker had also made several smaller cakes to resemble gifts wrapped in silver with gold bows, and had placed these around the other cakes. The club's full bar was on the left side of the room, the dark wood an attractive contrast to the main colors in the room. Silver candlesticks and bowls of yellow and white flowers adorned each of the smaller dining tables around the room, and each chair was covered in gold brocade. Each place at every table had a small box that contained a gold locket. Inside each locket was a picture of the castle on one side and "OJBB 1-13-2007" inscribed on the other. Finally, a strategically placed DJ was playing music so the guests could dance on the floor towards the back of the room.

Will had warned the guests that he would bring Orlando around at about seven-thirty, giving them time to arrive, mingle and get comfortable. He'd told Orli that he wanted to take him for a private dinner at a romantic spot for his birthday, hoping that he wouldn't suspect anything as they pulled up in front of the Corsicana. As they made their way inside, Will glanced at the maitre d' and received a nod that signaled all the guests had arrived and were merely awaiting the guest of honor. Squeezing Orli's hand, Will kissed his cheek, smiled and led him upstairs. The double doors to the main room were closed, and the servers were out of sight save for one footman who stood by the doors, ready to open them. Will made sure to have Orli go in front of him, then nodded for the doors to be opened.

"SURPRISE!!!!!!!"
