April Showers
Ah, April is here. Next week is spring break. Thank goodness for small favors, right? not that i get any time off. Whilst i only have to be up in brooklyn 1 day next week (for pre-mastering a cd and a lesson) i will be working what looks like 5 or 6 days that week in jersey. Not my idea of a break really. Livejournal told me it had been 4 weeks since my post. when i last posted, i had tabled 7 Gradations because of more pressing deadlines. In those 4 weeks, i have written a 4 minute work for Brooklyn College Brass Ensemble. Gradations has been tabled...
SO, 7 gradations has been tabled. sad really. but i've hit a complete existential funk trying to finish this last "easy" movement. How freakin' crazy is that? I hit a normal movement and i can't seem to write it at all. tried three times today, threw them all out. tried for the past two weeks, threw them all out. Sad really ( Read more... ) -
writer's block
It is january 20th. I finished Gradation one two weeks ago. What have i done since? Well, i've thrown out 3 or 4 sketches. i've sat down and played through several violin sonatas and concertos, listened to the bach partitas and sonatas, and read an entire book on extended violin technique.
