A boy without a cerebellum learns to walk

Feb 14, 2011 13:02

Three year old Chase Britton was born completely missing his cerebellum - the part of the brain that controls motor skills, balance and emotions - and his pons - the part of the brain stem that controls such basic functions as breathing. It seems like he shouldn't be able to sit up or crawl, but he's learning to walk!
Doctors say  'He has the MRI of a vegetable'. His older brother says 'He acts like a normal kid'.
