A group of humans evolved to do that in the scifi book People of the Sky, by Clare Bell, which is a great book because it's got a lot of wtf_nature crossed with what_if_nature. The protagonist was an outsider, and at first she kinda just thought everyone was grimacing at her. It was really interesting to read.

I've been known to suck air over my tongue and soft palate if i really need to ID the source/direction of a scent, but you'll be pleased to note that it's never once occurred to me to curl my lip up to my eyebrows.
