If they breed so rapidly why do you care if a cat does what cats do and hunts it? If it were an endangered species I'd be a little pissed, but it's a rat-esque thing which seems to be fairly hardy. If there is no restrictions on having outdoor cats in your area then you have no right to bitch.
That being said, it's a cute animal, and pretty awesome for having full color vision.
I'd have to argue that cats have been introduced to almost all continents, released into the wild, etc. As such, they are a perfectly integrated part of the food chain.
Regarding the dodo: It was a flightless bird that couldn't handle the sudden competition that came with humans who settled. Natural enough of a selection for me. Stupid dodo.

I find this perspective harsh, but...I agree with it too. I have quite a harsh philosophy about these things.
Just like I think pandas are well-equipped to go extinct without any human intervention at all. Stupid pandas.
Dear Sir or Ma'am, you have my sincerest appreciation for being one of the few people to share my views on panda bears. It's not that I don't sympathize with animals, but I can't bring myself to associate morals, and sportsmanship with nature. If you're an endangered species and you tend to get eaten by an animal introduced through humans or driftwood, maybe you need to adapt or die.

Yeah, I love most animals, but that doesn't mean we have to think 'oh pandas deserve to live no matter what.' They're carnivores eating bamboo, whose digestive tracts STILL haven't adapted to their diet. Sure, we're destroying their habitat, but they kind of ate themselves into a corner first.
And of course, I won't like it if another species ever contributes to our extinctions - but as you say, if we can't adapt, then what do people expect?
Cats are not native to Australia and are a significant threat to native animals. Hence there is a responsibility for cat-owners to keep their pets inside after sunset.
