No, they really are that into each other. Of course, calling them 'gay' is an oversimplification, but in the news business, it gets clicks/ad revenue, so it's what we get.
In at least one case, though, one member of a male-male pair ended up randomly going with a female later on.
That was in our paper too (in a significantly shorter version of the article, though) and it made me laugh out loud. I find it hilarious, though infinitely adorable as well ^^ I go with what you said: just give the guys an egg and let them be one happy little family as well ^^
