Lesser Mouse-Deer

Hi.  I've been reading this community for a long time and I thought I'd share this animal.  Some of you may have seen it on the Obscure Animal Alphabet ( http://www.uglorable.com/2008/03/30/obscure-animal-alphabet-axolotl-to-zebu/).  It's one of my personal favorites.

Some facts:

-Also known as the kanchil or tragulus kanchil.

First time I heard of kanchils, they were described as tricksters in Indonesian myths, which garanteed my undying love for them. (Even if the very idea of a tiny antelope with vampire fangs would have been enough)

Gods, I LOVE these funny little primitive ruminants! When I was a child, I found a huge hardcover book of Indonesian folk tales of the "kantjil" and fell in love with them. But my favorite is really the African one, usually called the water chevrotain, because of this.

For the record: they're not deer, antelope or anything else, really, except tragulids.
