Been there :}. Of course, it was rather cold and rainy at the time, but it was still cool. It's basically the same thing as Devil's Tower in Wyoming, except spread out all over the coast instead of in just one tower. You don't really get a good sense of size from the photos in Wikipedia, so I'll offer some of mine ( ... )

Nah. Kind of gross, actually: The Channeled Scablands.

The basalt was exposed when an ice dam broke way up in Montana and everything got washed away in a 100' wall of water. What look like rolling hills turn out to be giant ripple marks from the air. The basalt was there before. If you go along the road cuts in columnar basalt, look for breaks in the columns where trees were covered with the lava: You can find huge pieces of opalized wood.
