I'm not surprised. These remind me of Henry Darger's "The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is known as the Realms of the Unreal."
I think the artist is inspired by him. He has gore and other disturbing stuff too. Henry Darger never knew about the female anatomy so he draws little girls with penises.

I love the documentary about him and his artwork, what a strange sad life he lead! See it if you've haven't, and you're right about the inspirations with this artist.
