Step 2: Post the first line of lyrics for the first 40 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.

Does that make me - a longtime DJ and music fan - musically illiterate? Or are we just occupying different musical universes? Anyhow, here are just five my iPod Touch came up with on Shuffle:

I think we probably do occupy different musical universes, but also I think you'd know a couple of these if you had the music to accompany the lyrics. :-)

I actually think it's cool to have these different tastes. I suspect it comes from ignoring local radio the way we now ignore local newspapers. We all have to find our own music since radio sucks so badly. If it weren't for NPR, I wouldn't even need to own a radio.
