I completely know how you feel! My partner and I just moved into a new apartment, and our crappy little box garden has consumed my life. Nobody has ever been more proud of a baby snap pea, let me tell you.

I totally get that! My deck is my happy place. There's just something about making something grow that is intensely satisfying. I'm growing a ton of new-to-me herbs this year. The more I go organic in my life, the more I'm learning about the benefits/uses of various herbs and things I can cultivate myself. Backyard herbalist I guess you could say :)

:D Our entire garden is herbs, with a bunch of tomatoes thrown in, and some sunflowers for my girl. We're drying rosemary out on the porch as I type! And I agree that learning about the uses of the herbs, especially medicinal uses, is very useful. We're taking a one day wilderness course on medicinal herbs later this summer, and I'm thrilled.

I've got lemon balm and basil drying now. We've had a lot of rain and not a lot of sunshine. By this time last year I had a ton of stuff harvested and dried. My rosemary, thyme, mint, and lemon balm are doing really well though, they like the water!

That wilderness course sounds really cool. I think most people would be really surprised to know that a lot of the "weeds" that they brush past in the woods can be eaten or used medicinally.

Have you seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B2DGXPOk4Q I really want to build one!!
