[POTC holiday fic] - KINGDOMS OF THE SWAN companion vignette - "Gold for the King" - 1/3 - PG-13

A/N: Ok guys, first off, this little beast is not beta’d, as it’s Christmas Eve and God knows no one would want to spent their evening editing. Please forgive typos and a certain lack of my usual syntactic flare, as I plunked this baby out, literally, in four hours at the office. It is also important to note that this story exists within my post- ( Read more... )

Lovely lovely lovely! You describe them so well, and their voices are funny and real. Liked Jack's POV very much. And I love stories where they role-play... they're so good at it, y'know?

Merry Christmas, and thanks for dashing this off to post it! Beautiful to see fic from you again!

Oh, thanks so much! I'm thrilled that you were able to sort through all the typos and whatnot to still enough this. I was so half-mad by the time I sat down to beta this, I wasn't sure if it was written in English, let alone funny and real. :)

Merry Christmas to you too! *g*

Oh, this is wonderful. I've missed your writing. I love them play-acting, but not really, and Jack's mingled impatience, irritation, and helplessness against his feelings for her. And the bit about the buttered rum made me laugh--along with a lot of other bits. More please... and Merry Christmas! (If a bit late..)

Thanks so much! So glad that you enjoyed this, and that it made you laugh with - and not at - all the typos. *wink*

More is on the way, Hopefully part two AND three will be up before the New Year ( I say this now....).

Oh, and sidenote: I love your icon. It's fabulous.

Ahhh... better than rum, spiced or buttered, was your always-perfectly-flippant-to-hide-the-heartache Jack! So happy to see you posted -- this was a lovely holiday gift, indeed!

Oh, I'm so glad that you liked it - especially the bit about the rum! God knows, I can't have a holiday without a cooking fiasco myself...

I was a little freaked out that it lacked a certain amount of polish, so I'm double-excited that it worked for you.

I hope you had a lovely holiday, and best wishes for the New Year!

*hugs*

This was beautiful. Adored the ambiguity of their declarations of love. Looking forward to more :)

Thank you for the MUSIC! I'm listening to "dead Man" right now, and it's simply amazing. What a fantastic collage of sound. I never thought I'd ever hear clasical Indian music forms mixed with hip hop...

Jahangir Ranjit Pakshi is his name, huh? Does it have a particular meaning?

My AU has him the son of an Amerindian mother-- Indian works very well or Portuguese or anything-- he's certainly no WASP.

Oh, I want him to be happy!

Oh, I'm so glad that you're enjoying the music. Nitin Sawhney is a favorite of mine, and I had "The Boatman" on my brain after watching "The Namesake" this weekend (fabulous film, and in it Tabu sings this song several times ( ... )

Another possibility- one I've alluded to in my own fics- is that his Mom was a gypsy. There's supporting evidence for this in Johnny's convincing portrayal of gypsy boatman Roux, in the 2000 movie 'Chocolat' (my second-favorite Depp role.)

And yet another theory that I love-- is that his mother was a mermaid...

I've said that to non-fans, and they say; "That explains so much!

..don't ask me to choose my second-favorite Depp role... It would be whatever i'd most recently seen, I'm so fickle ;)
