My sheets are white, with little rosettes on them. I’m going with rose for the color, then.
Prompt: Rule, 155 words, +2

Aeris, contrary to what most might say of her, didn’t like breaking the rules.

However, bending them was well within her set of morals, and she did so whenever it was to her advantage. However, she did it with a flare that any Slytherin from Hogwarts would likely admire, for she never went about it in a typical manner.

Some of her very best hexes and curses were modified from simple household charms; the element of surprise not only came from a magic, but from physical movement; in other words, she took what she wanted, gave nothing back, and bent the rules over backward without ever making them snap.

That was why she was a championship duelist. That was why she could face down vampires and werewolves without fear.

There were some rules, however, that she was starting to find that even bending was distasteful. She had no idea what to do about it, though.

Player’s Choice Blue-Prompt: Dune +1, Character: Source +2, Action: Leash +2, 145 words, +5

“Who is it?” the Auror ground out his words through clenched teeth, getting right into Blaise’s face.

Blaise, in return, merely raised an eyebrow mildly and glanced over at the man’s partner, as if to say, why aren’t you put a leash on him and get it done with. The disdain, at least, was palpable.

“My source, sir, is none of your concern. What is your concern, however, is how your are going to deal with the information I have so obligingly handed over to you. You can trust me when I tell you, if you leave it untouched, it won’t be letting a molehill turn into a mountain, it will be turning the molehill into the entire chain of dunes of the bloody Sahara desert,” he said, voice flat and emotionless as he easily twisted sayings and metaphors to his own use and purpose.

Prompt: Coffee, 143 words, +2

That he had invited here today was something of a miracle-everyone knew they hated each other. That it was a cordial setting, with coffee doctored the way each liked (no poisons, potions, or anything else undesireable) and nibbles on a tray showed how serious a situation it truly was. Blaise hoped that Nina would read it accurately and respond accordingly.

He sipped at his coffee for a moment as he regarded his nemesis across from him. “I have been hearing disturbing things of late,” he finally said, voice as bland as the coffee was rich. “My sources have been … uneasy, to say the least, and it is not just here in Britain.

“I was hoping that between the two of us, Ms. Davis, we could pool our information and try to find out what the larger situation is, and react accordingly.”

Thirds this!

I don't know the background of these characters and situations, but the drabbles are fun to read. I really liked the first one, as well. I hope to see more of Aeris and find out about the rules she doesn't like to bend.

When we get to A-Z, do we move to the square whose prompt we select, or do we move from the A-Z square?

My sheets are white.
Prompt: weave / 154 words / +2

~~

Given their history (the last time Nina had been in Blaise's office, he'd been purple-glitter-dwarf serenaded), there is a surprisingly polite exchange of pleasantries (How is your lovely wife, Mr. Zabini?).

At least there was coffee (his Italian side, she presumed). But the wafer-thin cucumber sandwiches were nauseatingly English (and made her glad she was on a w-diet this week).

There is a tentative truce. Nina is uneasy in his territory, though. She is uneasy about many things, although her face is smooth and calm and perfect.

He speaks the truth, for her sources whisper of the same shadow that weaves on the periphery, threatening her sparkly, lavender-scented life. Six months ago, Nina would have run back to Daddy (who the hell cares about the British).

"I agree, Mr. Zabini," she says stiffly. Nina doesn't know why she hasn't run. It is almost more of a mystery than the hazy threat which looms.

Wondermous, m'dear. There are several parts that just make me giggle outrageously.
