"A sexual favors coupon book," Jaehwan whispers into Hakyeon’s ear one quiet evening when they are the only ones in the living room. Hakyeon is splayed out on the sofa, as he is wont to do these days. Jaehwan is resting against one of the armrests, Hakyeon laying between his legs, head propped up on Jaehwan’s shoulder.
It’s October and Taekwoon’s birthday is just around the corner. Hakyeon is combing through dozens of articles on Naver on what to get for your boyfriend. Hakyeon had tried asking Taekwoon directly what he’d like on his birthday, but Taekwoon had just shrugged, telling Hakyeon in that quiet voice of his that he didn’t need anything.
“There must be something he’d want,” Hakyeon murmurs, frowning at his phone. The articles suggest movie tickets, perfume, a nice sweater (home knitted!), shoes, body lotion or shower gel and so on. The thing is that Taekwoon already had a lot of perfume - that he barely used - and shower gel and lotions. Their bathroom is filled with random brand soaps and stuff that they all use. If Hakyeon had the time and the knowledge to knit a sweater he would. Movie tickets were out of the question as neither of them really had any time to go see any movies these days.
“I just told you,” Jaehwan whines, hands poking Hakyeon’s sides until he pays attention. “Make him a sexual favors coupon book!”
Hakyeon sits up, then, folds his legs Indian style as he turns to look at Jaehwan. He doesn’t look amused at all. “It’s not funny Jaehwan. I’m being serious about this!”
“So am I!” Jaehwan says, arms flailing. “That’s something both of you can enjoy and it doesn’t cost you a lot.”
Hakyeon glares.
“Maybe a tiny fortune in lube and condoms but there will always be sacrifices!” Jaehwan says, grinning. Hakyeon grabs the thing closest to him, which turns out to be one of Sanghyuk’s circus tents camouflaged as a hoodie, and introduces it - several times - to Jaehwan’s face.
However when November 10th comes around, they’re all busy with their new album, checking charts and reading comments on social media. So it’s November 11th before they actually get to celebrate Taekwoon’s birthday.
They’re all gathered in the living room wearing their sweatpants and gigantic hoodies, faces bare, eyes red and swollen. Hakyeon thinks that Wonshik is asleep already, it certainly looks like that from where Hakyeon is sitting, Wonshik’s face buried against Hongbin’s side.
“Happy Birthday hyung,” Sanghyuk chirps as he sits down in the circle, between Taekwoon and Jaehwan, settling a small cake in front of him, candles burning.
“Make a wish,” comes almost drunkenly from Hongbin.
Taekwoon blows out the candles on the first try before grabbing a spoon generously provided by Sanghyuk. There are five other spoons lying on the floor, one for each of them. Sanghyuk is the only one besides Taekwoon who starts to eat of the cake.
“Time for gifts!” Jaehwan chirps, way too perky for this time of the night, Hakyeon thinks, but doesn’t comment on it. Hakyeon’s own package lies in his bedroom. He figured out it would be best if he didn’t give it to Taekwoon in front of everyone. Despite them knowing about their relationship, Hakyeon thinks that some things still should be private.
“This present is from Hakyeonie hyung!” Jaehwan exclaims, pulling Hakyeon out of his train of thoughts. Jaehwan hands Taekwoon a brown package with two teddy bear stickers on, looking awfully much like the one in Hakyeon’s room.
Wait a minute.
Armageddon unfolds in the VIXX dorm in a matter of minutes. Taekwoon tears open the present, only to find Hakyeonie’s Coupon Book of Sexual Favors, written in golden glitter on the front side of a regular notebook.
In two seconds, Taekwoon turns scarlet, splutters something as he gets onto his feet, eyes wide as he scrambles into the bedroom he shares with Wonshik, slams the door behind him.
Jaehwan and Sanghyuk screeches, Hongbin pets an asleep Wonshik’s back as Hakyeon spends forty minutes trying to get Taekwoon out of his room.
