So Popolo set SixTONES up as detectives and thiefs on their newest issue, and I wanted to write something inspired by that, because the mental image is just hilarious. I imagined this would be set in the beginning of 1900s. I wanted to make it longer but ran out of time :<
The plans whatsoever Kouchi’s had pretty much go down the drain the second Lewis Jesse shows up at the crime scene. Kouchi has just arrived himself and is in the middle of getting a quick report from his fellow officer when he sees Jesse striding around the corner - and like that wouldn’t be enough already, there are Matsumura Hokuto and that Morimoto guy right at his heels. Kouchi lets out something that is half sigh, half groan. He doesn’t know how Jesse found out about this so quickly…
Kouchi is going to get yelled at by his supervisor again. The whole department kind of hates Jesse, even though he’s helped them solve countless of cases before (or maybe that’s exactly why). Kouchi owes Jesse personally, as well, and that’s mostly why he only settles for a polite bow when the detective is close enough. And also because it’s kind of useless and impossible to say no to Jesse, especially if he persuades with a wide smile and a promise of coffee.
“Kouchi-san, good day,” Jesse greets cheerfully and smoothly ignores all the ugly glares he gets from other officers present. “I heard you had a mysterious theft in here and as I happened to be close by, I thought that I could maybe lend you a hand?”
On his left, Hokuto snorts and rolls his eyes but Jesse ignores that as well.
Kouchi sighs again, all resigned. “Yes. You may have a look inside.”
“Why thank you,” Jesse smiles sweetly. “Let’s go, Shintaro. And Hokuto, too, I guess.”
“I’m not your damn assistant,” Hokuto grumbles as they step past Kouchi and the other officer. “Stop treating me like one.”
“Then start being useful.”
“By the way, ten yen says this was done by the same phantom thief that’s been striking lately,” Shintaro puts in and that’s the last thing Kouchi hears because his fellow officer taps his shoulder impatiently and he forces himself to go back to what he was doing earlier and not think about what Jesse might be doing with the evidence and witnesses inside.
