Away from the hustle and bustle of the crowd that had formed, Jongdae sees just how nervous the girl had been and he can't help but mentally applaud her courage to defend the little boy from being beaten up by the bully of a shopkeep. But now that they are away from the attention they had drawn, he wonders if she had really done the right thing: the shopkeeper looked like someone who would hold a grudge, and he worries that she might find herself in trouble again if she wasn't careful.
But for now, she and the little boy she had been proctecting would be out of the line of fire.
He looks over to where she is crouching against the wall, her head tilting backwards as she gasps for air. Beside her, the little boy is half leaning against the wall, half slumped on top of her, relief evident on his dirty face. They stay like that for a few moments, catching their breaths, and then she's moving, pushing herself away from the brick wall to kneel in front of the kid, hands reaching up to firmly cup his cheeks.
"How many times, Sehunnie, do I have to tell you to stay away from that vendor?" she scolds, a frown marring her pretty face. "You're lucky I was there today, else who knows what might have happened to you!"
"It's not my fault," the little boy wails, bursting into tears and throwing himself into her arms. "I didn't mean to pass by his stall! I didn't even know it had moved!"
She gently pats his back as she looks around the area, and she startles when she sees Jongdae sheepishly watching them from the side just as the boy - Sehunnie - looks up at him and says, "Besides, if that hyung hadn't come by, Liyin-noona would have been done for too!"
