"Top of the morning!" Jongdae greeted as he wandered into the kitchen, a sunny grin on his face. He helped himself to some bread and a glass of juice while Jongin and Sehun - the only other members currently at home - stared incredulously at him.
Sehun nudged Jongin with his elbow, jabbing the bony joint into the other boy's ribs, and Jongin retaliated with a swift pinch to Sehun's side and a displeased glare.
"I asked last time," he hissed.
"Fine," Sehun huffed, and he put down the sandwich he had made as a midnight snack with great reluctance.
"Hyung," he called over to Jongdae, who had begun humming away to their new promotion song while buttering a piece of toast, "it's not morning."
Jongdae made a non-committal noise, sliding a glance over to the clock beside the fridge. "Oh yeah," he said in a vague but surprised tone, "you're right. How silly of me." And then he turned back to the sandwich he had just finished making.
Sehun pulled a judgemental face. Jongin squinted.
"Hyung," Jongin began cautiously, after sharing a look of befuddlement with Sehun, "are you okay? You were out all day and you came back super late, and now you're actually really weird."
"Oh, yes," Jongdae answered cheerfully, taking a bite out of his snack. "I'm perfectly okay. Don't mind me" - and he waved a hand dismissively - "I'm just very happy right now."
Something clicked in Jongin's mind. "Hyung, were you with Liyin-noona today?"
"Yup," Jongdae chirped, popping the 'p' before stuffing the last of his sandwich in his mouth. "Today was a great day~"
"I really don't want to know anymore," Sehun muttered before he quickly left the kitchen with the remains of his midnight snack just as Jongdae began recounting his day with Liyin to a reluctant Jongin.
Serves him right, Sehun thought pityingly, for bringing up that topic.
