A Fantasy Blurb
Nobody seems to be writing this turn? :( So since kuro_chin let the 3 day limit pass by, I consider the turn skipped. Here's my fic then:
A Fantasy Blurb
Mist rose from the large meadow that spread out in front of him. It was a rather cold morning when one considered that it was already supposed to be past spring and moving towards summer. The dreaded summer that would undoubtedly bring disturbances to this quiet world.
He could feel the humidity cling to his skin and a low, rumbling growl could be heard coming from somewhere deep him. It was not a sound a human could make.
Hands and legs turned into paws and fur started to cover the naked skin. The dark wolf made his way back into the forest. His legs carried him swiftly and silently, deeper and deeper into the darkness of the trees and bushes. Where there had still been birds singing earlier, here and no sound except for the wind rustling the leaves of the trees could be heard and maybe the occasional creaking sound of old branches and trunks.
The entrance to the cave was well hidden and yet, when summer came, people would still find their way here once in a while. It would make their work harder. He wasn’t looking forward to that.
“Wataru, you’re back,” a figure stepped out from the shadows beside the cave. “Where did you go?”
His shaped changed back to that of a human and he rose from his crouching position again. “I just went to check the entrance of the forest. It’s still cold but summer is coming. They’re coming.”
A look of disdain and worry appeared on the other’s face. “Why can’t we just close this off, I wonder? Barrel it shut or something so none of them would be able to just wander in and through to the other side? Why do we have to be here and protect it?”
“Because there may come a time when we will need it, Taisuke,” he reached out to pet the other’s head gently, affectionately. “You know, times can change. It has been a while since a war broke out but if what Hiromitsu said last time was true, we might be facing harder times again. At least out here, we’ll be safe. There aren’t many on either side here who know about this passage way.”
“You think it is true then? The old king is dying?” the one called Taisuke frowned.
“I don’t think Hiromitsu would lie to us. It is his duty just like it is ours to watch over this passage way,” he nodded. “He wouldn’t give us false information about something like that. Especially because he knows that the new season here means more trouble for us already.”
“I wouldn’t put it beyond him,” the other huffed but there was no harshness in his words. “You think we could go back briefly when Nikaido and Senga come to take our places for a bit? I miss the bazar and the markets. I want to see them one more time before everything will fall into chaos.”
He smiled, “I’m sure we’ll be able to do that.”
“When are they coming again?”
“Soon. On the day of the eclipse at twilight.”
