And many places let you cut trees as far as I know. In Alaska they open up sections so that the trees will be thinned in that area.

At least they used to.

Tell Jim... He doesn't talk to me much anymore so I have to jump on it when he does.

As for the trees, I'd never heard of it until I move to Washington. THe webpage for the Natl Forest around here states they give out maps so I'm guess it's the same type of thing trying to clear/thin areas.

We looked into possibly getting a tree like that this year.

Because menorahs and dreidels don't make for very interesting decorations. And Christmas has much better music.

(Although there's something to be said about the superiority of a blue/silver colour scheme over a red/green one. :) )
