DRABBLE PROJECT, 1 THROUGH 32
Genre: SLASH
Fandom: CANADIAN IDOL
Pairing: EVERY PAIRING EVER
Notes: I started this in August, just before my wisdom teeth came out. And then I told myself I'd have them done before placement started in November, but that didn't happen. I haven't touched them in months, to be honest. I'm hoping that you'll be the ( Read more... )

Good God [Affi] Danielle. Seriously now. I can't even think of words to put in a review to make any kind of sense. The context of you (I missed your writing; I'm sorry I just don't like Supernatural! :p) writing these made me really happy. The idea is phenomenal and the mix is funny, sad, poignant and pretty much every one of the emotions the drabbles are inspired by. I don't even know what to tell you because the inside of my head is not making a lot of sense at the moment and in the best possible way. I always prefer to comment things just after I read them because then I'm conveying my earnest reaction - but in cases like this it's not the best because then I just babble with an overflow of joy and pretty much... everything.

Okay. Hm. I feel I should quote things but they work so perfectly as wholes that I'd have to quote entire drabbles. And there are many I love. So... I will do my best to grab a few of my absolute favourite lines.

Beside him, Kalan watches the ceiling and squints against the harsh morning light pouring through ( ... )

Oh, your long comments kill me Heather! In the very best way possible, of course.

I don't know how to respond to this, other than to say that I'm so proud to have a context with you. Your comment alone is enough to make me want to finish these - thank you <3

Oh my God. Oh. My. God.

First of all, I want to get this out of the way: 1- drabbles?! What's the deal with those? I think the idea is amazing, and whoa, what an exercise of the language it is! But, how do they actually come about? I think I might have tried my hands at one once, but I don't think it turned out well because I have no recollection of it whatsoever. How can you get an idea to be expended to 100 words only? And, by that I mean what is the process for you? When you go overboard, do you decide to remove a few superfluous words, or do you rewrite the whole line altogether? I'm completely fascinated by drabbles, can you tell?

Well, now that that's done, I will get to the subjects at hand, right? 2 - I have to admit that the idea behind what inspired all those drabbles is nothing short of genius. And, I mean it. The one thing I like the most about fiction in general (and most importantly when it concerns fiction in particular - here, CI slash) is that it makes me feel. And, setting the mood of the fiction with, well, moods ( ... )

I love how you always ask questions in your comments, Miss Emcy! It makes me feel like a real author - thank you!

1) Drabbles have to be 100 words, and generally I'm not very good at being precise. crankygeek, however, is. We started to write drabbles for each other a couple of years ago (they're at dandy_supremecy if you're curious), and mine are always much longer than 100 words. My goal for this set though was to contain each to exactly 100 words, and so what I generally do is try to get an idea down in as few words as possible (usually about 120), and then cut out details that I can live without. Sometimes it's really difficult and you need to get rid of things that you like, and othertimes you come up short (80 words for some!) and need to add details.

2) I can't take any credit for that at all. You should appreciate the fact that moveablehistory wrote a set of Sam/Dean drabbles that are fantastic, and that I thought about doing the same with Jared/Jensen but decided to go with ci. Our fandom never really participates in challenges like this because we're so ( ... )

:D :D I am just glad it is not considered annoying/pestilent, haha. So really, thank you for according interest in my questioning, and it was my pleasure to read.

That was a whole awesome set of answers, thank you! I am enlightened and now I have many more interesting reads to find, hehe.

I agree that the fandom should definitely have more challenges like this. But I get that challenges require not only time and preparation, but participation also and we're not as active and/or productive. But, in the meantime we can very well make up our very own challenges. :)

Wife. Let me first mention that you are absolutely INSANE to take on a project of this magnitude. Secondly, how much do I love that you started 150 drabbles around the time I started 50 sentences, and you've gotten way farther than I have? :)

And thirdly, ohhhhh man. I think you've really out-done yourself this time!

They're all really lovely. I don't remember being this much of a Chad/Tyler fan, but the AMUSED one made me smile - a LOT. And APATHETIC - HAHAHAHA. I also love that the smutty one is the anonymous one: somehow, that makes it seem SLUTTIER! :) And BLANK perfectly encompasses how I think the Tyler/Greg relationship would be - a lot of flailing and not a lot of words.

(Oh MAN. When did I get so obsessed with season four?)

BOUNCY is too sweet: I love the excited chatter and the trip to the zoo, it's not over the top but it's still comfortable and sweet. BROKEN = n'ugh. My heart. Superglue that back together, will you? CALM is like understated sadness. I like that a lot, too. CHEERFUL and CHIPPER are fuzzy and adorable. ( ... )

100 drabbles my love, only 100! I was going really well at the beginning of this project, and then school started to get intense. Hopefully I'll finish them, anyhow!

I've also found that the fourth season kids have grown on me - I kept trying to add in seasons other than 2 & 4 (Rex/Diego! Barrett/Stephane!), but it was so much harder. Next round, hopefully.

Thank you for reading these, and for the love! <3

Oh wow. I'm nearly at a loss for words, I will say just the fact you've contemplated this project is cause enough for admiration. Seriously, every pairing ever? ;) You get through this endeavor without breaking your brain, I owe you a cheesecake.
And "Who spit in your hair gel?" is my new fave query. I didn't think snarky!Kaleb would appeal to me but somehow it does :D

You taught an English teacher a new word just then, I think! kissedbythegods December 27 2006, 01:09:43 UTC
I'll continue to write these just for the free cheesecake, you know! That's a rough bet to make with me. And thank you for reading and commenting! You all have given me the motivation to attempt to finish these off :)

Reading this was such a great help. Anti aging skin products is such a complicated thing and this article explained it well. Many thanks to this new information.
