I love everything about Viola, it really captures what it is like to be a medical student. As a graduate student myself, I can really identify with it.

Everyone can vote, save for the survivors. =)

The Viola story tells me instead of shows me, and takes a long time to do it. It lists characteristics rather than allowing Viola to be her own story.
My vote goes to the Jason story. It has some grammar issues, but I think it is the most richly descriptive. Readers learn not only about Jason, but about his relationship with his brother.
The Thomas story does well for shock factor, but it doesn't tell much about his character.

i think the thomas story is the best written, but i think the jason story is the most developed-- though it does have some issues. the viola story is really, really telling, like the above poster said. it lost me when it said she pushed back her 'long, brown hair'.

jason.

Some of the details in "Viola" are a little awkward and obviously placed (as someone else mentioned "long, dark hair"--ick), but I think the crafting of the story is better overall. The flow and arc are the best defined, in my opinion; it does just enough to show how she got to this place in her life, and I think it ends in just the right place (although I really want to know what happens next). "Jason" feels too cumbersome, and "Thomas" is fairly generic. I don't get a sense of what he's like as a character (since that story could be about any kid), and the ending feels cliché to me.
