Just curious!

What do you guys do with your stuff once it's finished? Do you post them on your personal websites? Or do you just post them on your live journal? I've started posting my own stuff on myspace. Does anyone else do that? Some writing myspace buddies might be cool.

I post my own stuff in my journal. Someone should explain MySpace to me. I find it ugly, clunky and full of ads. A commercial venture. Live Journal is also a commercial venture but it has the virtue of being open source, something I think important. The source of MySpace's current popularity is unfathomable to me.

But then again, hordes of people use AOL's AIM, another ad-ridden medium I avoid. I use Trillian to access their network, though.

Good call. I use trillian too - it's perfection and grace. I can be on 2 different MSNs and AIM at the same time without all the garbage that the normal clients lumber you with.

Finished? Oh, um, er, uh... I'm not sure I've every actually finished anything, other that the recently posted parody and things like that (which I use for cards, etc). :/

I do have my own website (a slow one for now - I am not nearly as technologically advanced as others, and I, for one, am completely lost as to what coyotecult and akirad are talking about. And, surprisingly, I'm also okay with that.). And I've dabbled in MySpace, but it scares me. I've had people try to "friend" me there that are just creepy creepy creepy; not like here, where there seem to be a good balance of sane people.

But I think, mainly, writing is something I do for much the same reason I do a lot of things. Just for the halibut.

I think having your own website is a lot better than using MySpace; you can get more than decent packages for as low as $3 a month -- or maybe lower -- with no ads.

There are places that offer free templatesAdvantages: it will load faster (than MySpace). You can put lots of stuff on it, including graphics, and make it look however you like. MySpace is damn ugly no matter how anybody dresses up their page. At least, I haven't seen one decent style to date, maybe I should consider it a challenge. There's no ads, which MySpace has a lot of --flashy distracting ones. You'll be able to see the site's stats. Which will probably never really be all that impressive, but you'll be able to tell who's linking to you when people follow the link, and which are the most popular pages, etc. (The most visited page on my website is the image directory for rats visited by Google Images ( ... )

when i finish things, i submit them to littles and onlines magazines or keep them hidden in microsoft word files where they will never be found again. or i'll post them here.

it's a big thrill for me getting rejection letters in the mail or in my inbox but it shows that you're at least working on it. eventually, my stuff will be picked up. i got published once from doing this and i haven't been submitting for very long (less than six months)... i got paid four dollars for a short-short. and i currently have three poems under consideration for the next HALF DRUNK MUSE (halfdrunkmuse.com) which is really exciting. i hope i make it but even if i don't, at least i know i made it through the most difficult round of cuts.

yeah, and i use my computer that my parents bought me to go to college with. when you look at the keyboard, there is no more letter l. i use aim like every day (flashyjeneration if you're interested!) and i do have a myspace accound and lots of friends but i admit i am addicted to le facebook. :) rawrrrrrr.
