There are plenty of stories in the canon about angels and demons, and you should never bow to social pressure to self-censor. Your focus should not be to swap your ideas for more polite ones, but to deliver them well.

That said, the angels vs demons things has been done a lot, and done to death. Your challenge is to create something unique and special within that tradition. Best of luck.
There's a fine line you can draw between genre work and 'done to death'.
I mean, you could argue that period romances and westerns have both been done to death, but there are still loads of people who love reading them and will lap up any new ones.
So I wouldn't be put off writing something in a popular genre. Just do it well and be happy that you have a built in readership of people who already like that kind of story.
I am not particularly Christian, but I love religious focus in works of fiction.
somerled is right though. It's hard to do it well, and you've got a lot of competition, so it's just a matter of raising your bar if you want to do that.
Hmmm.... that's a pretty good question. Let me start my answer by clarifying exactly what I meant in the first place, mostly because I figure I probably madea poor choice of words to start with. I really enjoy religious and apocryphal symbolism and concepts in works of fiction. Which tend to bring the focus of a story around to religious issues
( ... )
Whatever works for you. You're the artist. But I would take head to somerled's advice and make it unique among all the other angels vs. demons stories. That's basically what writing is, to me; finding new ways to express things that've been around for years.
Stick with your original idea if that's what you want to write. Most people in the western world are familiar enough with Christian mythology that they'll be able to follow the story.
